Scammers are targeting job seekers, posing as legitimate employers and requesting sensitive information. One victim shared his experience with a fake Delta Airlines offer.
Scammers are exploiting the job market by posing as employers, like Delta Airlines, and sending fake hiring packets that request private information from job seekers. Omar Villanueva, a job seeker, shared his troubling experience where he was misled into submitting sensitive personal data such as his driver’s license and social security number to what he later discovered was a scam. The Better Business Bureau warns that unemployed individuals searching for jobs are particularly vulnerable to such scams. They advise researchers to verify job opportunities before sharing personal information, especially when engaging with messages sent from popular job-search websites like Indeed and Monster. In light of these threats, the BBB recommends job seekers remain vigilant and conduct thorough checks prior to disclosing personal details.
